What does InterBay Asset Finance offer?

Hire purchase
A hire purchase agreement spreads the cost of an asset over an agreed term. Standard terms are 2 to 5 years, with up to 7 years for long-life assets. InterBay says it can offer agreements with little or no deposit and can structure VAT deferral, seasonal, escalating and balloon profiles. The business usually owns the asset at the end of the term after paying a small final fee and can claim capital allowances in the majority of cases, says InterBay.
Finance lease
A finance lease lets a business use an asset without owning it. InterBay says VAT can typically be reclaimed on monthly payments and that payments are often deductible against pre-tax profit. Several options are offered at the end of the lease.
Refinance
Refinance raises capital against assets the business already owns. InterBay says it can be used to raise working capital, consolidate existing finance arrangements or fund acquisitions.

How it works: asset finance
Asset finance spreads the cost of equipment, vehicles or machinery, with the asset itself as the main security. Under hire purchase you own the asset once the final payment is made; under a lease you pay to use it and hand it back, extend or replace it at the end.
Lenders look at the asset’s age, condition and resale value as well as the business, and many fund used as well as new equipment. Sector pages such as transport and logistics finance and construction finance show how it is used in practice.
Points InterBay Asset Finance publishes that are worth knowing:
- Lends through brokers; apply to join its broker panel via a Regional Sales Manager.
- States it can offer agreements with little or no deposit.
- Hire purchase can include VAT deferral of up to four months.
- Products are stated as not regulated by the FCA or PRA.
- Industries listed include agriculture, construction, engineering, manufacturing, transport and waste and recycling.
Security and guarantees
The pages read do not describe personal guarantees or charges. Hire purchase and lease are secured on the asset being financed in the usual way, but InterBay’s pages do not spell this out.
Is InterBay Asset Finance regulated?
InterBay Asset Finance’s site states: “The products and/or services featured above are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. InterBay Asset Finance Limited is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 05929676). InterBay Asset Finance is a full member of the Finance & Leasing Association and the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB).”

One application lets your business compare options across lenders, so you can weigh this kind of facility against the alternatives. You can check your funding options with a soft search that does not affect your credit score. A full application to a lender may involve a hard search, and any offer is subject to status and lender criteria.
