What does Simply Asset Finance offer?

Simply Asset Finance publishes 3 products for UK businesses. The table above gives the amounts and terms as it states them.

  • Hire purchase: Regular monthly payments; flexible repayment structure.
  • Finance leasing: Simply buys the asset and leases it to you; you choose what to do at the end of the rental period.
  • Asset equity release: Loan secured against high-value assets such as machinery, equipment or vehicles.

Hire purchase

The customer pays for an asset in instalments over an agreed term and owns it at the end on payment of a nominal fee. The customer is responsible for maintenance and insurance. Simply says payments can be structured for seasonal cashflow and balloon payments.

Finance leasing

Simply buys the asset and rents it to the customer, who does not own it. At the end of the rental the customer can continue renting, return or replace the equipment, sell the asset or terminate. Simply says VAT may be reclaimed on monthly rentals.

Asset equity release

A loan secured against high-value assets the business already owns, traditionally machinery, equipment or vehicles. The business keeps using the asset while releasing its value as capital, for example to buy new assets or consolidate debt.

What does Simply Asset Finance fund?

Simply Asset Finance says its finance is used for:

  • Buying machinery, equipment and vehicles
  • Releasing capital from owned assets
  • Debt consolidation

  • Agriculture

  • Recycling

Who can apply to Simply Asset Finance?

Simply Asset Finance publishes these criteria. Meeting them does not mean an application will be accepted: every lender makes its own decision.

  • UK companies of all sizes, many of them SMEs.
  • New-start companies and those releasing capital from owned assets are considered.
  • Lends into sectors including agriculture, construction, engineering, manufacturing, packaging, print, transport and recycling.

How do you apply to Simply Asset Finance?

Simply Asset Finance describes its process like this:

  1. A broker, dealer or the business submits the proposal, including through its Simply Connect platform.
  2. Simply assesses the business and asset, with people making decisions.
  3. Terms are agreed and the agreement signed.

Every application is subject to status and the lender’s own criteria at the time.

How it works: asset finance

Asset finance spreads the cost of equipment, vehicles or machinery, with the asset itself as the main security. Under hire purchase you own the asset once the final payment is made; under a lease you pay to use it and hand it back, extend or replace it at the end.

Lenders look at the asset’s age, condition and resale value as well as the business, and many fund used as well as new equipment. Sector pages such as transport and logistics finance and construction finance show how it is used in practice.

Points Simply Asset Finance publishes that are worth knowing:

  • Personal guarantees can be taken at Simply’s discretion (Growth Guarantee Scheme page).
  • Participates in the Growth Guarantee Scheme.
  • Also lists additional products such as soft assets, invoice finance, VAT and tax loans and refinancing.

Security and guarantees

Finance is secured on the asset being funded or released. Personal guarantees can be taken at Simply’s discretion on Growth Guarantee Scheme loans.

Is Simply Asset Finance regulated?

Simply Asset Finance’s site states: “Simply Asset Finance Operations Ltd (FRN 798195) and SAF1 Limited (FRN 799893) are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.”

Protections differ by borrower type and loan size. Most lending to limited companies is not regulated consumer credit, so read the agreement and ask the lender what applies to you.
