PlayterBoost short-term cash flow loan
A short-term unsecured loan of up to £500,000, repaid in 2 to 12 monthly instalments. The business must be a UK limited company with at least £250,000 annual turnover and at least a year of trading. Businesses upload supplier invoices and spread payment over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, with credit of up to £1 million depending on assessment. UK businesses with 12 months of trading are eligible. Connecting Open Banking and cloud accounting software is used for assessment, though the site says alternative documents are accepted. The site says there are no penalties for early repayment, and that personal guarantees may sometimes be requested.

How it works: unsecured business loans
An unsecured business loan is a fixed sum repaid in instalments over an agreed term, without a charge over a specific asset. Most lenders still ask the directors for a personal guarantee, which makes them personally liable if the company cannot repay.
Lenders price each loan on the business’s trading history, turnover and credit profile, so the offer you receive can differ from the published range. Compare the total cost in pounds and the repayment pattern, not only the headline rate: our guide on how to compare business loan lenders shows how.
Points Playter publishes that are worth knowing:
- A personal guarantee is required for a Boost loan; the guarantor needs to be a UK homeowner with enough equity to cover the loan.
- Boost is a short-term loan intended for cash flow and growth.
- Pay is credit to spread the cost of supplier invoices.
Security and guarantees
Loans are unsecured, with no asset pledged. Personal guarantees from directors or shareholders are required on PlayterBoost and may be requested on PlayterPay, and corporate guarantees may be requested for group borrowers. PlayterPay allows early repayment, which the site says carries no penalty.
Is Playter regulated?
Playter’s site states: “Imployapp Limited (Trading as Playter) is registered with the FCA with reference number 986360. Imployapp Limited is incorporated in England and Wales (company number: 11376064). Our registered office is at Floor 10, 40 Leadenhall Street, London, EC3A 2BJ”
Protections differ by borrower type and loan size. Most lending to limited companies is not regulated consumer credit, so read the agreement and ask the lender what applies to you.
What are the alternatives to Playter?
Other providers of unsecured business loans with profiles here include SimplyFunded, STAX and Swiftfund. Each profile uses that lender’s own published terms.

Applying through a broker
Capzy is a credit broker, not a lender, and gets paid by the lender. One application lets your business compare options across lenders, so you can weigh this kind of facility against the alternatives. You can check your funding options with a soft search that does not affect your credit score. A full application to a lender may involve a hard search, and any offer is subject to status and lender criteria.
